There has always been a long standing joke in our family about my inability to do things with my hands.  "Don't let dad do it, we'll have to get a new one."  Everyone knows that "Mom" is the one to fix things around the house.  I always have the pleasure of congratulating her at the completion of one of her projects, and there are many.  She has been involved with woodwork on a larger scale for many years creating cabinets, shelving, entertainment centers or simple crown moulding for our house.  I have always been content to sit and admire her work.  When I mentioned the desire to have a hobby other than golf, she was shocked.  I was mesmerized by the beauty and body of a fine wood pen one night at a dinner party and have been hooked ever since.  My hobby became our hobby and has even extended to our daughters.  The joy and exhilaration we get when "that perfect pen" comes off the lathe is better than any drive down the fairway.  We have been fortunate in the sense that quite a few of our friends and co-workers have touted our pens to their extended families and increased our work load.  Our goal is to create one of a kind writing instruments that enhance the beauty of the wood or material being used and will last a long time.
